Improve quality of life with AI in healthcare

In the past, many people have had concerns, even fears, associated with visiting a  hospital. Thanks to improvements in patient experience driven in part by new technology, patient concerns are on a decline.  Improved surgical techniques, imaging, electronic health records and more have contributed to improved outcomes and to a positive shift in patient expectations.  And, there are nearly endless opportunities for healthcare providers to leverage technology to deploy more precise, efficient, and impactful interventions at exactly the right moment for a patient.

The volume of clinical data and information is growing at a staggering rate, well beyond the ability of any one individual to keep pace. To address this, AI is poised to be the engine that helps to drive improvements across the care continuum. AI offers a number of advantages over traditional analytics and clinical decision-making techniques. Learning algorithms can become more precise and accurate as they interact with training data, allowing humans to gain unprecedented insights into diagnostics, care processes, treatment variability, and patient outcomes.  AI is fast becoming a trusted advisor to physicians, not replacing the physician’s expert decision making but rather augmenting the decision.

Implementing a robust AI strategy requires a proper setting in the hospital. It requires new operating protocols.  The staff must be trained, and, the technology needs to work efficiently with other existing technologies. Collectively, this leads to new challenges for healthcare providers. They are asking important questions such as “am I deploying the right IT to meet my needs?” or “how to get started?”
