Using VDI to Create New Data Center Economics

When it comes to VDI, we have more use-cases, better business benefits, and greater support from management to deploy virtual desktops to more users. Most of all, the data center ecosystem has come a long way to support very rich desktop experiences for the user. Remember, business around infrastructure and cloud is only continuing to pick up pace. And, there are some very real numbers to back this up. Consider this – global spending on IaaS is expected to reach almost US$16.5 billion in 2015, an increase of 32.8 percent from 2014, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2014 to 2019 forecast at 29.1 percent, according to Gartner’s latest forecast.
Furthermore, there are a lot of great benefits to deploying a virtualization ecosystem that is capable of supporting a diverse user base. With that in mind, one of the most commonly cited motivations for implementing virtual desktops is to increase density, while still securing the data of end-user computing ecosystem. Furthermore, Gartner said that properly implemented virtual desktops can increase security, and help organizations and infrastructure leaders meet compliance requirements.
So, with this in mind – let’s examine how VDI can help organizations create new levels of data center economics:
- Testing and Development with VDI. What better way to test out an application, service or new product than on an efficiently provisioned VDI image.
